SHRESHTA NETS 2024 is a scheme administered by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. This scheme aims to provide seats for meritorious boys and girls from SC categories in the top private residential schools in India. About 3000 students are going to be selected under this scheme for admission into classes 9 and 11.

To select the candidates, the NTA (National Testing Agency) will conduct the exam having one paper. Please note only those candidates are eligible to take this test whose parental annual income is up to Rs. 2.5 lakhs. Go through this post to check the complete information about SHRESHTA NETS.

SHRESHTA NETS Eligibility Criteria 2024

The eligibility criteria to appear for this test are as follows.

Category and Class

  • Students should belong to scheduled castes and must be studying in classes 8th and 10th in the current academic year 2023-24.

Parent’s Income

  • The annual income of parents must not be more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

Age Limit

  • For Class 9th, candidates should be born between 01-04-2008 and 31-03-2012 (i.e. 16 to 12 years of age as of 31.03.2024).
  • For Class 11th, candidates should be born between 01-04-2006 and 31-03-2010 (i.e. 18 to 14 years of age as of 31.03.2024).

Application Form

The application form for SHRESHTA NETS 2024 will be released in online mode only. Here are the steps to submit the form.

  • First of all, aspirants need to register on the official website of NTA.
  • During registration, candidates must provide their name, father’s name, mother’s name, mobile number, email address, postal address, etc.
  • After registration, aspirants may sign in and access the main application form.
  • In the main application form, candidates must provide their complete educational, personal, and contact details.
  • While providing details, candidates should select any four cities of their choice for examination.
  • In addition to details, applicants must upload the scanned images of the following documents.
    • Photograph of the candidate – 10 kb to 200 kb in JPG or JPEG format
    • Signature of the candidate – 4 kb to 30 kb in JPG or JPEG format.
    • Candidate’s Category Certificate/Undertaking – 50 kb to 300 kb in pdf format.
    • Income Certificate: – 50 kb to 300 kb in pdf format.
  • Next, candidates should verify all the details entered and submit the application form.

Admit Card

  • The e-admit card will be released through the NTA website: https://shreshta.nta.nic.in.
  • Candidates will be able to download the admit card by providing their registration details.
  • The information about the examination centre and the date will be mentioned on the admit card.
  • Along with the admit card, candidates must carry any of the following documents with them – School Identity Card/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E-Aadhaar with photograph/ Ration Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
  • In case a candidate is unable to download his/her Admit Card then he/she should contact the NTA helpline number: 011-40759000 between 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  • Aspirants must note the admit cards will not be sent by post.

Syllabus

  • The syllabus SHRESHTA NETS is based on the NCERT Syllabus of Class 8th for admission to class 9th.
  • For admission to class 11, the exam syllabus is based on the NCERT Syllabus of Class 10th.

Result

  • The NTA will release SHRESHTA scores on its official website.
  • To check the result, candidates will have to provide their application number and date of birth.
  • The result card will contain subject-wise and total marks secured by candidates in the test.
  • Please note that there is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of the result.

Counselling and Admission

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called to take part in the counselling process after the test.
  • During the counselling process, students would have to choose the school in which they want to take admission.
  • Then, students will have to reach the school and complete the rest of the admission formalities.
  • The government of India will provide school fees and hostel fees to the school within 30 days of admission.
  • The school will provide hostel facilities for the students along with necessary assistance to settle down in the new environment.

Question – 1: Is SHRESHTA NETS a national-level exam?

Answer: Yes, it is a national-level examination that will take place in around 78 cities across India.
