What is Swamitva Scheme?
The Rural Development Department of India designed the Swamitva Scheme that was launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 24 April 2021.
The scheme allows any person to check and validate their property online. The land in the rural areas will be demarcated applying the latest surveying methods using the drone technology. It is also expected that the scheme will help reduce the disputes over property and curb poverty in rural areas.
Not just this, since the property will be validated it will also make the process of availing loans from the banks a lot easier. Overall, the launch of the scheme is hoping to make a major impact on the lives of the people in rural areas by uplifting their condition.
The scheme is launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, State Panchayati Raj Department, State Revenue Department and Survey Department. Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the launching of the scheme was done online by the PM through video conferencing.
e-GramSwaraj Portal & Mobile App
Along with the Swamitva Scheme, the PM also launched the e-GramSwaraj portal & mobile app. Through this portal the people can see the detailed report of the Panchayati work, thus creating transparency and reducing corruption in the system. The portal also aims at easing the planning, accounting and reporting work of the Panchayats and consequently strengthening the Panchayti Raj system. Information regarding the progress of the work, number of profiles created, financial progress report, accounting details etc will be updated on this portal from time to time. The Prime Minister also hinted that in the coming future it might become the single platform keeping the records of all work taken up by the Gram Panchayats. Interested people (with simply an internet connection and no other special requirements) can visit this portal through the website egramswaraj.gov.in.
Further, to make reach of this portal easier, a mobile application of Gram Swaraj will also be made available for download on Android and iOS devices. This way, the people can have the work report of their concerned Panchayat on their fingertips. Android users can download this app from Google Play Store and iOS users can download it from the Apple Store.
