25th National Science Olympiad (NSO)
Every year, the Science Olympiad Foundation conducts the National Science Olympiad (NSO). The aim of the Science Olympiad is to enhance the interest of students towards the subject of science. Interested and eligible candidates who want to apply need to fill and submit the registration form before the last date.
The registration form will be made available through the school. NSO is a two-level test. However, the test will be conducted only in 1 level for class 1st and 2nd. In this article, we are going to provide all the necessary details related to the 25th National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2024.

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for 25th National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2024 are given below.
- Students who are studying in class 1st to 12th are eligible to take part in 24th National Science Olympiad (NSO).
- Please note that there are no other eligibility criteria like minimum marks etc. that to be fulfilled.
- National Science Olympiad is a two level examination. Only following candidates will be shortlisted for the 2nd
- Class toppers from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores 50% qualifying marks.
- Top 5% of students’ class wise, who appear for the 1st level exam,
- Zone wise top 25 rank holders class wise
Note: Students from class 1st and 2nd need not appear for the 2nd level. They will be ranked based on their performance on the first level.
National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2024 Application Form (Registration Process)
Interested and eligible candidates who want to apply need to apply through their schools only. The SOF doesn’t accept individual applications from the students. The complete details related to the 25th National Science Olympiad are as follows.
- The school needs to contact the Science Olympiad Foundation in order to get registered.
- After that, registered schools will receive a prospectus and registration forms from the SOF
- It is mandatory for the school to have a minimum of 10 interested students in order to get registered.
- In case any school wants to get the prospectus without getting registered then it can get it by sending an email at [email protected] or by giving a call at 0124-4951200.
- After getting the registration form, the school needs to get the registration form filled by their students.
- Please note that the details entered in the registration form must be accurate. In case of incorrect or fabricated details, the registration form might get rejected.
- Finally, the school has to submit the duly filled registration forms along with the student’s registration sheet to the SOF’s office before the last date.
Application Fee
- The registration fee for the students of schools in India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, & Nepal is Rs. 125/- (including GST) per student/ Olympiad.
- There is no fee applicable for students suffering from any major physical disability.
- The Indian students whose parent was martyred during defence operations also need not pay the application fee.
- The application fee for other countries is US$9.
Admit Card
- The school will provide the admit card or roll numbers to the students who are going to appear for the 25th National Science Olympiad 2024.
- To receive the admit card for their students, the school’s coordinating teacher should fill the School registration form (SRF) and student’s registration sheet (SRS).
- In order to get the roll number, the schools should ensure that they send both SRS and SRF before the last date.
- SOF will generate the admit card/ roll numbers for all the students based on the data received from the school.
- All the students will be allowed to appear for the examination need to have a valid admit card or roll number.
Exam Pattern
The pattern of 25th National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2024 exam is given below.
Level – 1:
- The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.
- The level 1 exam consists of 35 objective multiple choice questions for class 1st to 4th. For Class 5th to 12th students need to answer 50 objective multiple choice questions.
- Questions in the examination will be asked in English language only.
- There are separate question papers for each class.

Level 2: The level 2 is conducted for class 3rd to 12th students. The qualifiers to 2nd round includes the following.
- At School Level: Class topper where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores at least 50% qualifying marks.
- At Zone/State Level: Top 25 rank holders from each Zone and each class
- At International Level: Top 5% of candidates, class wise, who appear in the 1st level exam internationally
25th National Science Olympiad (NSO) 2024 Syllabus
The syllabus of NSO is different for the various classes. Given below is the syllabus for class 1st to 4th.
1st Class: Spatial Understanding, Grouping, Measuring Units, Analogy, Geometrical Shapes, Patterns, Odd One Out, Ranking Test, Living and Non-living things, Plants, Animals, Human Beings and Their Needs, Good Habits and Safety Rules, Air and Water, Weather and The Sky.

Result
- The authorities will declare the 25th National Science Olympiad (NSO) result within 8 weeks after the examination date.
- Students may contact their school in order to check their result.
- Apart from this, the result will also be made available on the official website of the Science Olympiad Foundation.
- Authorities will release the Student Performance Report (SPR) at the time of declaration of the result. This report will help in analyzing the strong and weak areas of the students.

For less than 10 students in a school, it is not viable for the Foundation to hold the SOF NSO. Hence at least 10 students should be enrolled from a school so that a school becomes a center.

I was looking for Olympiad exams that provide individual registration and online exam mode for students. I found CREST and Unicus Olympiads provides this. Does any site provide this facility too?
