Many government agencies have already issued warnings that the third wave is inevitable if lockdown and other precautionary measures are not followed.
Although there have been a lot of talks about the third wave of corona there is no confirmation by authorities that it has arrived in India. So, we should not worry too much. But yes, we all need to be alert and follow the guidelines of ICMR and WHO. Go through this post to know complete information about corona third wave including its possibility and protectionary measures, etc.
What is Corona’s Third Wave?
The fact is that there is no technical definition of a Covid -19 wave. In fact, the term “Wave” is used to show the significant rise in the number of coronavirus cases and related deaths in a short period of time. If we see the trend of coronavirus infection from the last year, it is clear that the virus has affected the countries in the form of waves.
In India, there have been two different waves of corona disease that hit the country at different times. Last year, the first wave reached its peak in September and the second wave started in April and reached its peak in May. Not only in countries but the virus has also affected different states at different times. For example – the National Capital Region (NCR) has seen four distinct mini-waves of the corona infection.
In a similar way, the third wave of Covid is also expected to arrive and have a lethal impact in India. Experts like Mr. K Vijay Raghavan (Principal Scientific Advisor) have already warned about the possible third wave of corona in the country. This is the reason why we all should protect and prepare for the pandemic.
Will Corona Third Wave Impact Children?
This is one question that is troubling parents all over the country. Many prominent personalities including the Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Arvind Kejriwal have said that the third wave of corona in India will impact Children. This has led to confusion and almost panic in the minds of many parents in India.
Let’s talk about the facts related to the possible impact of Coronavirus on children during the third wave. Recently, the AIIMS Director Mr. Randeep Guleria pointed out that the statement of Coronavirus third wave impacting children in the next wave is not based on fact. The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) has also said that it is “highly unlikely that the third wave will predominantly or exclusively affect children”.
All and all, we can say that there is no scientific evidence that this virus is going to affect children. So, there is no need for unnecessary panic. At the same time, we must not forget that precaution is better than cure. So, you should ask your children to always wear a mask and wash their hands at regular intervals. You may also follow the diet suggested by the Ayush ministry for better immunity.
Will there be more deaths during Coronavirus Third Wave?
There have been unprecedented deaths in India during the second wave of Covid. We have seen almost 4500 deaths per day during the peak of the wave. It is far more than the first wave. The intensity of corona is not the only reason behind a sharp rise in the number of fatalities. In fact, many other factors contributed too. We have listed some of the major reasons as given below.
- The double strain mutant of corona was a super spreader. In many cases, it was noticed that virus damaged up to 80% to 90% of the lungs within a few days.
- Due to a large number of corona patients rushing to hospitals our health crumbles in many states. This results in the death of many patients because of the lack of proper healthcare.
- We have also seen a lot of death due to the insufficiency of oxygen in many states. For example- around 8 people died in one night at Batra hospital Delhi due to an interrupted oxygen supply.
Now, it is very difficult to predict what will be the situation during the third way. On a positive note, we are seeing many states along with the central government are already taking many precautionary steps to tackle the situation. So, it is expected that the third wave will be managed in a better way and mortality will be less. Along with the precautions, vaccination drive is also in the full swing in our country. Lakhs of people are getting vaccinated every day. This will also help the government in combating the third wave more effectively.
