Till 2015, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas used to be celebrated yearly. Thereafter, it had been decided that the day will be celebrated once in every two years. The 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas was observed from January 8 to 10 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Hence, the celebration of 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas takes place in 2025.
On January 9, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) commemorates the contribution of the Overseas Indian population to India’s progress. It will be the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 to be celebrated on 9 January 2025. The mode of registration is highly expected to be online and free of cost.
The PBD Convention, MOIA’s main event, has been held every year from January 7th to 9th since 2003 in order to link India with its huge abroad diaspora and bring their ideas, experience, and talents to a centralized channel.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas History
Once in every two years Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated on January 9. The day is significant because that commemorates Mahatma Gandhi’s arrival to Mumbai from South Africa in 1915. The day has been observed since 2003, and until 2015, it was an annual celebration. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 Theme
“Contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat” was the theme of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in 2021. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event took place in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. The three-part Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2021 Convention was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The PBD 2023 theme was “Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal”.
Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2025 theme is yet to be revealed.

I have attended 2015 and 2019 PBD. Spent wonderful time with other attendees. In 2019, there was a special treat by able to go to Kumbhamela and attend January 26 parade in Delhi.
