विशेष रूप से और अन्य केन्द्रीय सरकार, राज्य सरकार, स्वायत्त निकायों और सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उपक्रमों के कर्मचारियों के बीएसएफ कर्मचारियों की शैक्षिक आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए केन्द्रीय विद्यालय बीएसएफ कैंप छावला नई दिल्ली की स्थापना सन 1986 में की गयी अपने शुरुआती समय में विद्यालय बीएसएफ द्वारा प्रदान किये गए टिन शेड में चलाया गया था.
अपनी स्थापना के बाद से 2006 तक स्कूल कठिनाइयों और असुविधाएँ के साथ टिन शेड में संचालन किया जा रहा था लेकिन वर्ष 2007 में 7 एकड़ भूमि पर विद्यालय को अपनी स्वयं की स्थायी में और पक्की इमारत प्राप्त हुवी
