Elon Musk was born on June 28 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa to Maye Musk and Errol Musk. His mother is a model and dietitian and his father is a electromechanical engineer, pilot, sailor, consultant and property developer. He is also co-owner of a Zambian emerald mine near Lake Tanganyika. Musk also has a younger brother and sister.

Musk met his first wife, Justine Wilson, in Queen’s University and they got married in 2000. In 2002, their first child died at the age of 10 weeks but the couple was later blessed with twins in 2004 and triplets in 2006. Musk and Wilson got divorced in 2008 with shared custody of all children.
