How to join Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)?

Every year, the Sashastra Seema Bal opens multiple vacancies for the posts of Assistant Commandants, Sub-Inspectors, and Constables. Candidates can apply for the different posts under SSB according to their qualifications and eligibility requirements. Selection of applicants for different posts is done on the basis of entrance exams conducted separately for each post. How to join SSB?

Any candidate who decides to join SSB first needs to make sure that he/ she meets the prescribed eligibility for the given post.

Assistant Commandant

• The candidates should be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
• The age of candidates should not be more than 35 years (with relaxation for reserved category candidates).
• A graduation degree with certain specific specializations in some cases is required.

Sub-Inspectors

SI (Pioneer)

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• Applicants up to 30 years of age can apply.
• A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering is required.

SI (Draughtsman)

• The candidates should be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
• The age of applicants should be between 18 to 30 years.
• A pass in the matric exam or two years National tradesmen certificate is required with a one-year certificate course or AUTOCAD experience.

SI (Communication)

• The candidates should be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
• Applicants up to 30 years of age can apply.
• Applicants should hold a degree in Electronics Engineering/ Computer Science/ Information Technology or Science with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

SI (Staff Nurse/ Female)

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.

• The age of applicants should be between 21 to 30 years.
• A 3-year diploma in general nursing along with two years of experience in a recognized hospital is required. The candidate should be a registered nurse and should have passed the class 12^th exam in Science.

Constables

Constable (Veterinary)

• The candidates should be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
• Applicants up to 25 years of age can apply.
• A pass in 10th grade with Science plus one year of experience in the treatment of different species of animals.

Constable (Driver)

• The candidates should be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
• Applicants up to 27 years of age can apply.
• A pass in 10th grade along with a Heavy Vehicle Driving License is required.

Constable (Laboratory Assistant)

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• Applicants up to 25 years of age can apply.
• A pass in 10th grade with Science plus a Lab Assistant course certificate is required.

Constable (Carpenter, Plumber, and Painter)

• The candidates should be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan.
• Applicants, up to 25 years of age can apply (18-30 years for painters).
• A pass in 10th grade or an equivalent diploma with 2-year work experience or a one-year certificate course is required.

Constable (Ayah)

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• Applicants up to 25 years of age can apply.
• A pass in 10th grade with Science, a certificate from Red Cross Society in First Aid exam, and a one-year work experience is required.

Constable (Tailor, Cobbler, Gardener, Cook, Washerman, Barber, Safaiwala, Water Carrier, Waiter)

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• The age of applicants should be between 18 to 23 years.
• A pass in 10th grade or an equivalent diploma with 2-year work experience or a one-year certificate course is required.

Application Process

• Candidates who wish to appear for the SSB entrance test can apply online through its official website
• To fill out the application form, the candidates will have to provide their basic personal and academic details.
• Photographs and signatures of candidates in scanned format should be uploaded in the application form.
• After providing all the details carefully, the application form can be submitted online along with the prescribed application fee.
• Upon successful submission of the application form, a printout should be taken that should be kept safe for future reference.
• The application form will be released separately for different posts and the fee will also vary from one another.

SSB Exam Pattern

For the AC post, 100 questions carrying 100 marks from the topics of General Awareness, General Intelligence, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and Current affairs will be asked in paper 1. Paper 2 will test the professional skill and paper 3 will test the writing and comprehension skills of candidates.

For SI & Constable posts, 100 questions carrying 100 marks from the topics of General Knowledge, General Awareness, Analytical Aptitude, Elementary Mathematics, and Hindi/ English will be asked. The level of questions will be different for both exams and they are held separately.

SSB Admit Card

• The admit card for the SSB exam will be published on the official website a few days prior to the exam.
• Candidates should take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center on the day of the exam.
• Along with the admit card, a valid identity proof is also required
• No candidate is allowed to appear for the exam in absence of any of these documents.
• Details related to the exam center and exam timings will be mentioned in the admit card.

SSB Result & Selection Process

• Results will be declared based on the performance of candidates in the entrance exam.
• Candidates who clear the online exam will have to physical and medical tests and their documents will also be verified.
• After clearing all the rounds of the selection process, candidates will be selected against the available vacancies
