Gasso began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Long Beach State and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She then became the head coach at Long Beach City College, where she led the team to a record of 161-59-1. In 1995, she was hired as the head coach of the University of Oklahoma softball team.

Since taking over as head coach of the University of Oklahoma softball team, Gasso has led the team to seven national championships. She has also been named national coach of the year multiple times.
