About Batman

Batman is a highly notorious animated superhero that made its first appearance in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics (DC) on March 30, 1939. The artist and writer of the character were Bob Kane and Bill Finger respectively.

In the comic world, Batman is a wealthy playboy, philanthropist and industrialist who lives in the Gotham City of America. His original name is Bruce Wayne but under the alias of Batman, he fights crime. He is also looking for the killers of Martha and Bruce Wayne, his parents who were murdered after getting robbed right in-front of 8-year old Bruce Wayne. He lives for justice now and makes sure that the city is at peace at nights, earning him the name The Dark Knight.

Batman trains himself intensively, both physically and intellectually and his abilities include high intellect, mastery in martial art and hand-to-hand combatant, sharp memory. Batman is also a great strategist and field commander and has expertise in designing and using high-tech equipment and weapons.

Batman is backed-up by supporting characters which includes his allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman and his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl. His major foes are the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, Ra’s al Ghul and the most dangerous of all, the Joker, a psychopath and sadistic criminal mastermind.

Batman Day celebrates and promotes the popular DC superhero Batman. Batman Day also marks the anniversary of the first ever appearance of the character in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939. Batman Day is an event of global celebration that is organized by DC Entertainment for celebration and promotion of Batman. After the first Superman Day was successfully and eventfully celebrated on June 12 2013, DC Entertainment along with DC Comics and Warner Bros organized the celebration of first Batman Day on July 23, 2014. The same day marked the 75th anniversary of Batman’s first appearance in Detective Comics in 1939. The day also coincided with San Diego Comic-Con. However, later the celebration of Batman Day was shifted to the third Saturday in September.
