BSE Session Timings

For trading in the financial markets in India, you should have an online trading account and an online demat account. You can hold your own shares in the demat account which works as a virtual space. On the other hand, the trading account helps you to trade in the market. Additionally, you must be aware of share market timings before you invest or trade in the market. Let’s have a look at BSE session timings:

BSE Trading session

The pre-open session is activated for 15 minutes i.e. from 9:00 am to 9:15 am which comprises of Order Entry Period and Order Matching Period. After the Order Matching Period there will be a buffer period in order to facilitate transition between pre-open and continuous session.

Order Entry Period

  • The order entry will be held for a period of 8 minutes during which only order entry, modification and cancellation are allowed.
  • Both market and limit order are permitted.
  • Dissemination of indicative equilibrium price, indicative index values & indicative match-able quantity

Order Matching Period

  • Order matching period commences soon after the completion of order entry period. Please note that no order modification, addition and cancellation are allowed during this period.
  • Trade confirmation and Opening price determination

Continuous Trading Session: 9:15am – 3:30pm
