Charlie Sheen was born on September 3, 1965, in New York City to Janet Templeton and  Martin Sheen. His father was an actor while his mother was an artist. His older brothers and younger sister are all actors.

Sheen was in a relationship with well-known actress Kelly Preston and they were even engaged. But Kelly called it off after Charlie accidentally shot her. He then started dating different adult actresses during the 1990s before marrying his first wife Donna Peele in 1995. They got divorced one year later and Sheen began dating Denise Richards in 2001.  Denise too is a renowned actress known for movies like “Starship Troopers”, “Wild Things”, “Love Actually”, etc and a former fashion model. The couple got married in 2002 and had two daughters together.

Professional Career

Charlie Sheen’s professional acting career began in 1983 with the movie “Grizzly II: The Predator”, a sequel to the horror movie “Grizzly”. However, the movie remained unreleased until 2020. Later he started receiving minor roles in movies like “Red Dawn”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, etc. However, Sheen’s first major role came in the 1986 Vietnam War drama “Platoon”. The next year he appeared in the movie “Wall Street” alongside his father. In 1988, he starred in “Eight Men Out” and appeared with his brother in the films “Young Guns” and “Men at Work”. He again starred alongside his father in “Cadence”. Sheen has also appeared in several comedy movies like “Major League”, “Money Talks”, “Hot Shots!”, “Scary Movie”, etc.

In 2000, Sheen replaced Michael J. Fox for the last two seasons of the sitcom “Spin City”, thus making his small-screen debut. This role earned Sheen two ALMA Award nominations and his first Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy. His other breakthrough role came with the role of Charlie Harper in the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men”. The series was loosely based on Charlie’s real-life image of a bad boy. In 1998, he was hospitalized after suffering a stroke from a cocaine overdose.
