Difference Between TGC and SSC Tech Entry: Age Limit, Application Process, Selection Process, Training
When we talk about the major differences between TGC and SSC Tech Entry, it is limited. I mean SSC Tech Entry and TGC do not possess several differences.
Candidates aged between 20 to 27 years are eligible to apply for both the entries. One can apply for both the entries using a single standard application.
Eligible candidates are shortlisted based on their CGPA along with the cutoff set by the Indian army. All successful candidates will receive their respective call letters through email. Further, training period is also similar in both the entries.
Even after completion of the training, both of them will work as a technical officer in the Armed Forces. Though, TGC and SSC Tech Entry are similar in various means, still we can’t ignore major differences among them. Let explore the same!
Major Difference between TGC and SSC Tech Entry

>>Candidates who join the TGC entry, they are liable to work under permanent commission. On the other hand, SSC officers are first required to work for 10 years and thereafter, they will be provided an option to either change his tenure into permanent condition or they have to leave after 4 years.
>>Only men are eligible to apply for TGC recruitment while men, women and even the widows of defence personnel are permitted to apply for SSC entry. However, you’ll find differences in the age criteria in case of widows.

>>Candidates selected under TGC entry will receive training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun whereas if a person is selected under SSC they need to go to Officers Training Academy, Chennai for acquiring the training.
>> As discussed, SSC tenure is quite small as compared to TGC and hence TGC entry will have higher chances of getting promotions in the near future.
>> If a candidate is in TGC merit list he can join SSC entry but the vice versa is not applicable.
Though, TGC and SSC tech entry are different at certain points, still it holds its equal importance for defence lovers. Both the entries have purpose to produce the best personnel to serve the nation. When it comes to joining, candidates should not differentiate between TGC and SSC Tech Entry as both are for serving nation only.

Only eligible unmarried Male Engineering Graduates are permitted to apply for TGC entry.
Age Criteria
The age of candidates should not be less than 20 years and more than 27 years as on the date mentioned in the advertisement.
Educational Qualification
Candidates having a recognized Engineering degree or studying in the final year of their degree course are permitted to apply. Candidates studying the final year of their study are required to submit the proof of passing the course including mark sheets of all semesters/years by the date mentioned in the advertisement and produce the engineering degree certificate within twelve weeks from the date of starting of training at Indian Military Academy.
Eligibility Criteria for SSC Tech Entry
Unmarried male and female engineering graduates and Widows of Defence Personnel are permitted to apply for SSC Tech Entry recruitment.

The Age of candidates should be in between 20 years to 27 years as on the date mentioned in the advertisement.
Educational Qualification
Candidates having a recognized Engineering degree or studying in the final year of their degree course are permitted to apply. Step 1: You need to open the official website link of Indian Army – joinindianarmy.nic.in in your browser.
Step 2: Move your mouse to Officer Entry Apply/Login and click it. Then click Registration.
Step 3: Register yourself successfully first and then fill rest part of your application form.
Step 4: Hit the link Apply displayed against Short Service Commission Technical Course.
Step 5: Fill up the application form carefully and submit it. Don’t forget to take printout of your application for future reference.
