Ed Sheeran was born on 17 February 1991 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England to Imogen and John Sheeran. His father was an art curator at Cartwright Hall in Bradford, and a lecturer while his mother was a culture publicist at Manchester City Art Gallery and a jewelry designer. His parents also ran an independent art consultancy from 1990 to 2010 known as Sheeran Lock. Ed’s older brother Matthew works as a composer. Sheeran started singing at a local church choir at the age of four, learned how to play the guitar and the cello at a young age, and began writing songs in high school. He was enrolled at the National Youth Theatre in London and also joined the Youth Music Theatre UK.

Early Career
In 2004, Sheeran released his first independent song collection when he was just thirteen years old. Along with renowned singer Passenger, he began playing in small concerts at the age of 15. Sheeran moved to London after he turned 17 and started playing at more gigs before enrolling at the Academy of Contemporary Music. However, he soon left the academy within a year and began supporting fellow English artist Just Jack. Ed released his first extended play track “Loose Change” in 2010 which received praise from the fans as well as the critics.
