The history of the US Flag Day goes back to June 14th 1777. It was the day when American Flag was adopted. The idea for Flag Day is attributed to Bernard J. Cigrand. He was a schoolteacher from Wisconsin. In 1885, he held a small observance of the flag’s birthday in his classroom.
Over the years, the idea of Flag Day spread and became popular. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson officially established June 14 as Flag Day. On August 3rd 1949, President Harry S. Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.
