How to join Territorial Army in 2024?

The Territorial Army (TA) is an auxiliary military organization of India that invites volunteers to provide their support services to the Indian Army. The territorial army does not offer full-time employment and candidates are recruited only for a limited period of time. How to join Territorial Army?

1. Officer

Eligibility

Nationality: Only citizens of India can apply.
Age limit: The candidate’s age should be 18 to 42 years as on the last date of filing of the application.
Educational Qualification: Graduates from any recognized university are eligible.
Physical standard: Applying candidates must be physically and medically fit.
Employment: The applicants must be gainfully employed in Central Govt./ State Govt./ Semi Govt./ Public Sector Unit/ Pvt. Sector or can also be self-employed maintaining their own business.

Selection Process

For Civilians

There will be a written test followed by an interview and a medical fitness examination.

Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted in offline mode (OMR answer sheet) and only objective-type questions will be asked. Each question will carry 1 mark and there will be a penalty of 0.33 number for wrong answers.

2. JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer)

Nationality: Only citizens of India can apply.
Age limit: The age of the applicant should be between 18 to 42 years.
Educational Qualification: The general eligibility criteria include candidates passing their class 10^th exam. In specified cases, dispensation for lower education qualifications exists as well.
Physical standard: Applying candidates must be physically and medically fit.

Selection Process

Phase I

An online common entrance exam (CEE) will be held and objective multiple-choice questions (MCQ) will be asked. The candidates would be required to answer 50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours depending on their category of application. For every wrong answer, 25% of marks shall be deducted.

Territorial Army 2024 Application Form

Interested candidates can fill out the application form for Territorial Army from the official website.
For the officer post, the mode of application will be offline whereas, for the JCO post, applications can be made online.
However, for offline applications too, the link to download the form will be made available in online mode only.
For online forms, the candidates can visit the link and fill out the application directly whereas, for offline applications, the form should be downloaded before it can be filled.
Basic personal, academic, contact, employment, and other details about the candidates are asked in the application form.
Photographs and signatures of candidates are also required to complete the form.
After providing all the details, the candidates can submit the form with the prescribed application fee.
A copy of the application form should also be kept by the candidates for future reference.

Admit Card

Candidates appearing for the recruitment test will have to download their admit card to appear for the exam.
The admit card is released on the official website of the territorial army prior to the commencement of the exam.
For different phases of the exam, the admit cards are released separately.
Applicants should download the admit card, take a printout and carry it with them to the exam center.
In case of the absence of the admit cards, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
