Significance of Indian Akshay Urja Day
Natural resources are depleting at a rate higher than ever and this is a major concern troubling the leaders of the world. However, by relying more on renewable energy (air, sunlight, water) than on non-renewable sources (oil, coal, natural gas), we can tackle the problem in a more efficient way. Akshay Urja Day is a campaign to create awareness about the development of renewable energy in India. It draws the attention of the people to the advantage of using renewable energy instead of traditional sources of energy. The day is a reminder that we can no longer go easy with our sources of energy and we must conserve them by supporting renewable energy development programs.
Renewable energy sources & their advantages
The energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a rate higher than their rate of consumption is known as renewable energy. Because of their ability to regenerate naturally, renewable energy sources are considered virtually unlimited. Energy sources like solar energy, bio-gas, hydro-electrical power, wind energy, etc. are examples of Akshay Urja. Check out some major advantages of renewable energy sources over non-renewable sources.
