Jon Favreau was born on October 19, 1966, in Flushing, Queens, to Madeleine and Charles Favreau. His father was a special education teacher and his mother too was an elementary school teacher who died of leukemia when Jon was only 13 years old. He is the only child of his parents.
In 1984 Favreau attended and graduated from The Bronx High School of Science, which is a school for gifted students. From 1984 to 1987, he attended Queens College before dropping out and later moved to Chicago in 1988 to pursue a career in comedy. His grandmother Joan Favreau was also an actress.
Since 2000, Favreau is married to Joya Tillem and the couple has a son and two daughters together. Tillem is the niece of well-known lawyer & talk show host Len Tillem and is a physician herself.

Acting career
At the start of his career, Favreau performed at several Chicago improvisational theaters. He landed his first film role in the movie “Rudy” in 1993. Although the movie didn’t perform well at the time of its release, it became a hit afterward. He again appeared in a college film “PCU” and landed a minor role in the hit sitcom “Seinfeld” as Eric the Clown. To pursue his career further in acting, Favreau moved to Los Angeles. He made his breakthrough in 1996 as an actor-screenwriter with the film “Swingers” and again appeared in another superhit sitcom “Friends”.
