List of Trade Unions of India
Trade Unions or labor unions are associations of workers involved in similar trade or industry that works for the benefit of these workers. In India, these unions are under the Trade Union Act (1926) and their statistics are collected annually by the Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour, Government of India. There are more than 16,154 trade unions in India as per a 2012 report and most of these unions are often affiliated to larger Federations. The Central Trade Union Organisations (CTUO) is the largest federation in the country that represents labors at the national level. There are 12 CTUOs recognized by the Ministry of Labour. List of Trade Unions in India 2023
The International Labour Organization has listed 12 officially recognized CTUOs under the Ministry of Labour. A trade union federation with at least 500,000 workers spread over a minimum of four states and four industries can become a CTUO. Check out the list of CTUO in India in 2023 in the table below.
