Hart started acting at the age of four and appeared in a television commercial for Splashy, a bathtub doll. She later appeared in around 25 commercials within a year. In a recent Nashville school shooting that occurred on March 27, 2023, Melissa Joan Hart helped kindergarten students escape. It was the same school in which her own children were enrolled too. Although her boys were not in school on the day of the shooting, Melissa and her husband were on their way to the school for a conference.
