Mindfulness Day Significance
The practice of developing the sense of presence on all aspects of life, physical, mental and emotional is termed as mindfulness. It is also known as non-judgmental acceptance of complete attention of all sensations, thoughts and emotions occurring in the present moment.
Originally an element of Buddhist practice, mindfulness has gone beyond that and has gotten enormous popularity in the Western countries as well. It is now considered as a method to handle one’s emotions many by psychologists and psychotherapists. To celebrate the newly found importance of mindfulness, Mindfulness Day will be celebrated on September 12, 2023.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, an American professor emeritus of medicine, is the pioneer of mindfulness in America. To allow people to benefit from mindfulness, he has created Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He also created a stress reduction program based on the development of mindfulness.
