Nicolas Cage was born on January 7, 1964, in Long Beach, California, to Joy Vogelsang and August Coppola. His father was a professor of literature while his mother was a dancer and choreographer. Cage belongs to the renowned Coppola family most of whose members are in the entertainment industry, including his two brothers Marc and Christopher Coppola. As a result, Cage also wanted to become an actor from a very young age.

Cage has previously dated actress Christina Fulton, with whom he has a son. They separated after a few years and Cage then married Patricia Arquette. After six years together, they filed for divorce.
