NMMS Assam 2023 for Class 8: Syllabus, Application Form, Eligibility
National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme 2023 or NMMSS 2023 is a scholarship program sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resourse Development (MHRD), New Delhi. The aim of this scholarship is to help the children from weaker sections of society. Under this scheme, students will get Rs. 12000/- per month for a maximum of four years (class 9th to 12th). Those who are looking to apply for Assam NMMS 2023 must register through NSP. The application form for the same will be available in both online and offline mode. NMMS Assam 2023 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates looking to apply must meet the eligibility criteria mentioned below.
- The student must be studying in the 8th class of a Government and Provincialised school.
- The annual income of the parents of the students who are looking to apply must be less than 1.5 lakh per annum.
- Candidates must have passed the class 7th exam with a minimum of 55% marks.

NMMS Assam 2023 Application Form
Interested and eligible candidates can apply for Assam NMMS 2023 either in online or offline mode as per the convenience.
Online Application
- The online application form for Assam NMMS will be released on the official website.
- In order to apply, the candidate must have a phone number and a valid email ID.
- After accessing the form, students must fill all of their personal, contact, and educational details very carefully.
- In addition to this, candidates also required to upload the scanned images of the following documents on the application form.
- Photograph of the candidate
- Signature of the candidate
- Caste certificate (Only for SC and ST candidates)
- Disability certificate (Disabled candidates)
- Declaration by Gazzated Officer.
- While filling the form, candidates have to download and take a printout of the Declaration by Gazzated Officer and get it filled up by the head of the Institution / Gazetted Officer.
- The scanned image of the declaration by a gazzated officer also needed to be uploaded on the application form.
- After submitting the form, candidates have to pay the required application fee online using a credit card/ debit card or internet banking.
Offline Application
- The offline application form can be collected from the Examination Centres or from IS offices during working hours.
- Alternatively, the offline application form can also be collected from the Examination & Training (ET) Branch of the Directorate of Secondary Education.
- After getting the form, candidates have to fill out their details accurately in neat and clean handwriting.
- The duly filled application form in offline mode must be submitted at the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam before the last date.
Application Fee
- The application fees for the candidates of various categories are as follows.
- General Category: Rs. 170/-
- SC/ ST Category: Rs. 120/-
Mode of payment
- Online Application: In online mode, the application fee can be paid through a Debit/Credit card or internet banking.
- Offline Application: Those who will apply offline need to deposit the fee through a bank draft to be drawn in favour of “National Talent Search Examination, Director of Secondary Education” branch “State Bank of India, Kahilipara, Guwahati-19, Assam”.

Assam NMMS 2023 Examination Pattern
The Assam NMMS 2023 exam will take place in two-stages as given below.
Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- Mode of Examination: Offline (Pen and Paper based test)
- Type of Questions: Objective type MCQ

- Duration of exam: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

NMMS Assam 2023 Syllabus
The important topics from each subject (for each paper) are given below.
- Mental Aptitude Test: Analogy, Classification, Numerical Series, Pattern Perception, Hidden Figure, Verbal & Non-Verbal Meta-Cognitive Abilities like Reasoning & Critical Thinking, etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test
- Mathematics: Number System, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Lines and Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles, Visualizing 2D and 3D Shapes, Mensuration and Statistics, etc.
- Science: Physics – Motion & Time, Weather & Climate, Electricity, Air, Winds & Cyclones, Reflection of Light, Force, Sound, Some Natural Phenomena, Friction and Temperature & Its Measurement, Chemistry – Acids – Bases, Combustion, Fuels & Flame, Metals & Non Metals, Coal & Petroleum, Synthetic Fibers & Plastics, Electric Conductivity of Liquids and Changes Around Us.
- Social Science: Geography, History, Civics, and Economics taught in class 7th and class 8th.
NMMS Assam 2023 Admit Card
- The authorities will publish admit cards for the Assam NMMS 2023 on the official website.
- To download the admit card, candidates have to provide their application number.
- The admit card comprises information about the examination schedule and exam center address.
- No candidate will be allowed to take the exam in he/she doesn’t have an admit card.
- Aspirants must keep the admit card safe even after taking the exam for future references.
Reservation
- The State quota for Assam is 2411 (subjected to change).
- 15% of the scholarships are reserved for the students from SC categories.
- 5% scholarships are reserved for the students who belong to ST categories.
- 4% of scholarships will be given to the physically challenged group of students.
NMMS Assam 2023 Result
- The result of both MAT and SAT examinations will be published online through the official website.
- Along with the result, authorities will also publish the merit of candidates selected for the scholarship.
- The qualifying marks for the candidates of various categories are as follows.
- General Category – 40%,
- SC – 32%,
- ST – 32%,
- PH – 32%
