Sam Worthington was born on 2 August 1976 in South East England, UK to Jeanne J. Worthington and Ronald W. Worthington. His mother was a housewife and his father was a power plant laborer. He also has a sister, Lucinda. Sam attended John Curtin College of the Arts which specialized in the dramatic arts. After he left college, Sam’s father sent him on a one-way trip to Queensland with $400 and asked him to earn his way home. He took a job at a construction site and many other odd jobs, settling eventually in Sydney. At one point, he also worked as a bricklayer. It was at this time that he auditioned for the National Institute of Dramatic Art and was accepted with a scholarship.
