Shashi Tharoor was born in London, United Kingdom to Chandran Tharoor and Sulekha Menon and raised in India. He has his two younger sisters namely Smitha and Shobha. His father was from Kerala state in India and worked at several positions in Delhi, Calcutta, Bombay, and London. He also worked as group advertising manager for The Statesman.
Shashi Tharoor’s paternal uncle Parameshwaran Tharoor was the founder of Reader’s Digest in India.
