Shubman Gill was born on 8 September 1999 in Fazilka, Punjab to Keart Gill and Lakhwinder Singh. His father was an agriculturist who wanted to become a cricketer but due to lack of facilities wasn’t able to do so. Shubman also has a sister named Shahneel Gill. When Lakhwinder noticed his son display an astounding game of cricket, he decided to help him become a professional player. He helped Gill practice his skills and even left his livelihood and shifted to Mohali to pursue this goal. Shubman initially took training in his school and was later admitted to Punjab Cricket Association’s academy.

Shubman was linked with the Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan after they were spotted together during outings. Shubman Gill’s Professional Career

Domestic Career

Gill made his debut in List A cricket where he played for his home state Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2017. The same year he made his first-class debut for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy. During the Ranji Trophy match against the Services team, Gill scored his maiden century. It was only his second match and Gill was praised for his immaculate performance in the game. He was selected for the India C team for Deodhar Trophy in 2018 and helped the team reach the finals. Later in 2018, Gill scored his maiden double century (268 runs) in first-class in the Ranji Trophy against Tamil Nadu.

In 2019, Gill became the captain of the India Blue team for the Duleep Trophy and the captain of the India C team for the Deodhar Trophy. With this, he became the youngest cricketer to lead a side in the tournament at the age of 20 years and 57 days old.

International Career

Gill got selected into the Indian U-19 team in 2017 where he played an important role in the team’s win against England U-19.
