Suryakumar Yadav was born on 14 September 1990 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Swapna Yadav (mother) and Ashok Kumar Yadav (father). His family originally belongs to Hathouda, Ghazipur, UP.  Yadav learned to play cricket with his friends in the Varanasi’s streets. However the family moved to Mumbai when his father got a job in the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).

Yadav was 10 years old at the time and his father too took notice of his interest in playing cricket. He enrolled Yadav in a cricket camp in BARC colony in Anushakti Nagar. Later, he joined Elf Vengsarkar Academy of former international cricketer, Dilip Vengsarkar. He was selected for the Mumbai domestic team and Mumbai Indians IPL team and still plays for the team.

Starting of Cricket Career and Success

Suryakumar Yadav started playing cricket for the Parsi Gymkhana club in Mumbai, in addition to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited team.

Simultaneously, he also played with other clubs such as Shivaji Park Gymkhana club and Dadar Union club in Mumbai’s club cricket. However, his first-class cricket debut came for the Mumbai cricket team in Ranji trophy in 2010.

Suryakumar scored 73 runs and gave a kick start to his career. He also became the leading run scorer for his team with the 754 runs in 9 matches, which includes double century against Odisha cricket team. In the same season Yadav also scored a century in Duleep Trophy tournament and he was one of top leading scorer for Mumbai in 2013.

Yadav got his first IPL contract with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2012 and then in 2014 by Kolkata Knight Riders. It was only in 2015 that made headlines after hitting a match-winning 46 runs on merely 20 balls. His performance only got better with time and he was again bought by Mumbai Indians in 2018 IPL auctions. He then went on to help them become IPL winners under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in 2019.

After an impressive career with the Mumbai Indians, Yadav was named in India’s Twenty20 International squad against England in February 2021. In June 2021, he was named in India’s One Day International squad against Sri Lanka. He still plays for Parsi Gymkhana and Mumbai domestic team.
