As per a report shared by Truecaller, there is a sharp increase in the number of spam calls and messages due to the increased significance of telemarketing and online sales. Let’s take a look at the world’s top 10 most spammed countries.

1 . Brazil

For many years in a row, Brazil continues to be the most spammed country in the world. It will be an understatement to say that Brazil has a problem with spam. In fact, the country has a class of its own. The rate at which spam calls are generated from this country is staggering. As per the report, an average Brazilian user receives 32.9 spam calls every month. According to Truecaller’s report, the categories of spam calls generated from Brazil are as follows.

• Financial Services – 44.1%
• Scam – 16.9%

2. Peru

Peru is another South American Country that makes it to our list of the World’s Most Spammed countries in 2023. An average Peruvian citizen receives around 18 spam calls every month. You will be surprised to know that Peru was out of the list of 10 most spammed countries in the world. However, it is back again right at the second position. It seems like Peruvian people need to use the spam-blocking feature of their phones more actively.

3. Ukraine

4. India

The good thing is that the percentage of scam calls in overall spam calls originating from India is quite less. In fact, only 1.4% of calls out of all spam calls were related to the scams last year. Most of the calls are related to sales. However, you should be aware of the KYC scam quite prevalent in the country.

5. Mexico

The fifth country on our list is Mexico. As per an estimation, an average Mexican receive 15.5 spam calls every month. The most dangerous of all these spam calls are Virtual Kidnapping calls. In these calls, a scammer calls someone to inform that his/ her family member is kidnapped by the cartel and will be released after transferring money. According to Truecaller, this type of scams accounts for more than 4% of total spam calls. Apart from this, spam calls related to Financial Services are also very common

6. Indonesia

Recently, Indonesian users are also receiving a large number of spam calls. People in this country are receiving 14 spam calls per user per month. Most of the calls around 80% are from the spam from financial services. On the other hand, 19% of calls are related to sales.  Although scam calls are only 1% these calls are very dangerous because scammers in Indonesia usually have precise information about the target.
