West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board will soon release the official notification for WBJEE 2024. It is one of the most popular and competitive entrance examinations in West Bengal.
By appearing in this exam, you can get admission to a large number of Undergraduate courses in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture.
Top universities in West Bengal like the University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, Neotia University, and more will accept WBJEE scores to shortlist candidates for admission.
It is an offline exam with objective-type questions. The cut-off marks for admission will be different for various universities.

WBJEE 2024 Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship – Citizens of India and OCIs are eligible to apply. However, OCI candidates are eligible for unreserved seats in the All India quota.
- Age Limit – At least 17 years old as of 31st December 2024. There is no upper age limit except for Marine engineering courses. The age of a candidate should not be more than 25 years for Marine engineering.
- Education Qualification – The educational qualification requirements are different for various courses.
Engineering/ Technology | 10+2 or equivalent Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application/ Technical Vocational as compulsory subjects with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD candidates) and individual passing marks in all three subjects. Aspirants must have passed English with at least 30% in the 12th standard. |
Five-Year Degree Course in Architecture | 10+2 with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics taken together. Should have cleared the NATA exam conducted by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi. |
Marine Engineering | 10+2 with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Should have at least passing marks in all three subjects. At least 50% marks in English either in 10th or 12th standard. |

Seats Reserved for Candidates from West Bengal
The following seats are reserved for domicile candidates of West Bengal.
- All seats in government-aided Engineering / Technology / Pharmacy Colleges.
- 90% of the total general category seats in Jadavpur University.
- All seats in B.Tech (Dairy Technology) at West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Science.
- SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ TWF seats in all institutes.
Criteria to be treated as domicile of West Bengal
You are treated as a domicile of West Bengal if you satisfy any of these two conditions.
First, You reside in West Bengal continuously for at least 10 years.
Second, Your parents are permanent residents of West Bengal with a permanent address in the state.
Application Process of WBJEE
The procedure to submit the WBJEE application form involves the following stages.
Registration
You can begin the registration process by visiting the official website wbjeeb.nic.in. Then, choose the signup option.
The details you must enter during registration include your name, father’s name, mother’s name, DOB, identification type and number, gender, present and permanent address, mobile number, email ID, etc.
After entering the details, you should create a password, choose a security question, and complete the registration.
You will get an application number after registration.
Fill out the Main Application Form
Sign in using the login credential generated during registration to access the main application form.
Next, enter other relevant information such as PWD status, domicile, category, religion, family income status, nationality, domicile, category, academic details, etc.
Also, provide your JEE Main application number if you have applied for the exam.
Upload Images
Along with details, you must also upload the scanned images of your recent colour photograph (10 to 200 KB) and signature (4 to 30 KB).
It is also mandatory to upload images of your marksheet and certificates in PDF format in 50 to 300 KB size.
Application Fee Payment
The examination or application fee is Rs. 500/- for general category candidates and Rs. 400/- for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B candidates.
You can pay the application fee online using a credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI.
Admit Card
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board will upload the admit card for all candidates online on the official websites. Candidates may download the same by entering their registration details.
It is compulsory for all candidates to carry a printed hard copy of the admit card to the examination centre. It is also mandatory to have a copy of colour photograph similar to one uploaded during online application along with one photo ID proof.
Aadhaar card/ Pan card / Passport/ voter card/ 10th standard admit card/ School – ID cards are accepted as photo ID proofs. You may contact the board for all discrepancies related to the admit card.

Mathematics – Algebra, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry of two dimensions, Coordinate Geometry of three dimensions, Calculus.
Physics – Physical World, Measurements, Units & Dimensions, Kinematics, Laws of motion, Friction, Gravitation, Bulk Properties of Matter, Viscosity, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations & Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetics, etc.
Chemistry – Atoms, Molecules and Chemical Arithmetic, Atomic Structure, Radioactivity and Nuclear Chemistry, The Periodic Table and Chemical Families, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Coordinate Compounds, Solid State, Liquid State, Chemical Energetics and Chemical Dynamics, Alcohols, Aromatic Compounds, etc.
Answer Keys
The board will upload answer keys for a short period of time on its official website. Candidates may log in and match their answers with the key.
Aspirants may challenge the answer keys on payment of Rs. 500/-. The board will review the challenge and upload the final answer key.
It is not possible to challenge the final answer key and the result will be prepared based on the same.
Result and Merit
The result will be published on the official website of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. Aspirants may check the result by entering their roll numbers.
The result card will carry information about the marks and rank secured by a candidate.
Those candidates who will appear for both papers I and II will get both General
Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR).
In case you appear for only Paper II then you will get only Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR). No rank will be given to those who will take only Paper – I.

Counselling and Seat Allotment
Shortly after the publication of the results, the board will release a separate notification for counselling and admission.
The exact seat matrix will also be made available by the competent authorities. In the counselling process, students will enter choices of institute and course as per their priorities.
Seats will be allotted on the basis of ranks and candidate priorities.
Document Verification
The admission of a candidate will be confirmed only after proper verification of documents. All verifications will take place during and after counselling by the allotted Institute.
The candidature will be cancelled in case a document is found to be forged.
Scholarship and Tuition Fee Waiver
The scholarships are available for meritorious and economically backward students.
To apply for scholarships, you must be a domicile of West Bengal. Plus, your family income should not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/0 per annum.
