West Bengal Holidays List 2023: Government, Public, WB Bank Holidays, School Holidays

Religious holidays in West Bengal especially Saraswati Puja, Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Laxmi Puja are celebrated with great enthusiasm. Other than them, there are around 20 public holidays that are observed in the state of West Bengal. Public offices, private offices, banks and schools remain closed on most of these holidays. Holidays like Republic Day, Bose Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti, etc falls on the same date every year whereas for holidays like Saraswati Puja, Vijaya Dashami, Good Friday, etc keeps on changing every year. There are more than 25 government holidays observed in the state of West Bengal and every public office remains close on these days. Banks, schools and many private offices also observe these holidays. However certain private offices might be open and provide alternate leave or extra pay or anything else as per their own policy. All the banks remain close on the above-listed Government holidays. Apart from the these, banks also remain close on all Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays. Earlier, banks used to operate for half day on every Saturday but later it was changed to second and fourth Saturdays offs and rest Saturdays on.
