Significance of World Anesthesia Day
World anesthesia Day commemorates the first successful demonstration of anesthesia on 16th October 1846 when doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital used ether for the first time on a dental patient. The face of surgical operations changed completely with the invention of anesthesia, making it possible for the patients to undergo surgery without suffering the torture of pain, which was the case earlier. But even after more than a century of its invention, a large number of people in the world do not have access to the safe anesthesia practices.
In the view of this neglect, World anesthesia Day is being observed to serve as a platform and a powerful advocacy tool to mobilize and enforce achievements of the global anesthesia community. Apart from this, the day will also honor the anesthesia provides all around the world. Also check Important Days in October
