World Pharmacists Day Significance

History of World Pharmacists Day

World Pharmacist Day was launched by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Council in 2009. At the World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences held in Istanbul, Turkey, the decision was taken to celebrate 25 September of every year as World Pharmacist Day. The day was chosen to coincide with the establishment of FIP on the same day in the year 1912. The main goal of this day is to celebrate the contributions of pharmacists in improving world health through their profession. With the very same objective, the first World Pharmacists Day was observed on September 25, 2009.

About International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)

The  International Pharmaceutical Federation is a global representative of millions of  pharmacists all over the world. The organization also represents pharmaceutical scientists and pharmaceutical educators through 153 national organizations, academic members, and individuals. The Federation was established on 25 September 1912 in The Hague, the Netherlands to support global health through the advancement of pharmaceutical education, sciences, and practice.
