Epson ET-2600 Not Working?
WiFi, Printing & Ink
Complete Fix Guide
The complete ET-2600 troubleshooting guide — WiFi setup failing, not printing, blank pages, black ink missing, and offline errors — all solved in one place.
The Epson ET-2600 is an EcoTank model that sits between the entry-level ET-2500 and the more feature-rich ET-2750 and ET-2760 series. It shares the same refillable four-colour ink tank system as other EcoTank models, but has its own specific characteristics — including WiFi-only connectivity (no Ethernet), a button-based control panel (no touchscreen), and a firmware generation that handles some router security configurations differently from newer models.
This guide is written specifically for the ET-2600 and covers every common problem category in depth: WiFi setup not connecting, the printer not printing or appearing offline, blank page and ink flow problems, and print quality issues. Each section includes ET-2600-specific guidance based on the model’s actual hardware and known common failure points.

What Makes the ET-2600 Different — Read Before Troubleshooting
The Epson ET-2600 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi — unlike the ET-2500 which is 2.4GHz only. However, 2.4GHz is recommended for better range and stability. It has a basic LCD screen (not touchscreen) for navigation. It uses Epson iPrint for mobile printing — not the newer Epson Smart Panel. It has the same pigment-based black ink as other EcoTank models, which dries in nozzles faster than dye-based colour inks. The ET-2600 also has a known tendency toward phantom paper jam errors linked to its paper sensor design.
The ET-2600 has higher-than-average reports of: black nozzle clogging on idle printers, phantom paper jam errors from the sensor lever, and IP address-related offline issues due to its DHCP handling. All three are covered with targeted fixes.
The ET-2600 uses Epson iPrint (iOS & Android) and Epson Connect for cloud printing. The newer Epson Smart Panel app does not fully support this model — use Epson iPrint for all mobile printing tasks.
Most Common ET-2600 Problems & Their Causes
Clogged Print Head Nozzles (Especially Black)
The ET-2600’s pigment black ink dries in the nozzles faster than dye-based colour inks. Printers idle for 7–14 days routinely develop black nozzle clogs that produce blank pages or missing black text. This is the single most common print quality complaint on this model.
WiFi IP Address Change After Router Restart
The ET-2600’s firmware does not reliably update its network identity when the router assigns a new DHCP address. When the IP changes, Windows and Mac lose the printer connection and show it as offline — even though the printer is connected to WiFi and its own panel shows Ready.
Router Security Mode Incompatibility
WPA3-only router security mode is not supported by the ET-2600. When a router is set to WPA3-only, the ET-2600 cannot authenticate during WiFi setup and the wizard fails silently — appearing to accept the password but then reporting a connection error.
Phantom Paper Jam Sensor Error
The ET-2600 has a known issue with its paper detection sensor becoming dirty or stuck — reporting a paper jam when no paper is present. This is a well-documented ET-2600 specific problem that can be resolved with a targeted sensor cleaning.
Ink Tank Below Minimum Line
When any ink tank drops below the minimum fill line, air enters the feed tube leading to the print head. This causes blank output, faded prints, or missing colour — even if a small amount of ink is still visible in the bottom of the tank.
Print Spooler or “Use Printer Offline” Setting
On Windows, the Print Spooler service crashing or the “Use Printer Offline” setting being accidentally enabled prevents all print jobs from reaching the ET-2600 — making it appear offline regardless of its actual connection status.
The most important diagnostic step for any ET-2600 problem is to identify whether the issue is hardware (ink/nozzle), connection (WiFi/driver), or software (spooler/settings). A quick nozzle check from Menu → Maintenance → Nozzle Check immediately confirms whether nozzle clogging is contributing to any print problem. If the nozzle check pattern is complete and perfect — the issue is connection or software, not ink. This single two-minute test saves significant troubleshooting time by immediately directing you to the correct fix path.
ET-2600 WiFi Setup Not Connecting — Complete Fix
⚠️ Always Reset Network Settings Before Retrying
If any previous WiFi setup attempt has failed, reset the printer’s network settings before trying again: Menu → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults → Yes. Old credentials from failed attempts block every subsequent connection attempt — even with the correct password.
ET-2600 WiFi Setup — Step by Step
Using the printer’s LCD-based WiFi setup wizard
Set router security to WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 Mixed
Log into your router admin panel. Confirm the WiFi security mode is WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 Mixed — not WPA3-only. WPA3-only silently blocks ET-2600 connections. Also disable MAC address filtering if enabled.
Router → Security → WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 MixedReset network settings on the ET-2600
On the printer press Menu → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults → Yes. The printer will confirm the reset. This clears all stored network data and ensures a completely clean setup attempt.
Menu → Network Settings → Restore Network DefaultsPlace printer within 2 metres of router for setup
Move the ET-2600 next to the router during initial setup. The authentication handshake requires a stronger signal than normal printing — weak signal during setup causes silent failures without a useful error message.
Run the WiFi Setup Wizard
Press Menu → Network Settings → Wi-Fi Setup → Wi-Fi Setup Wizard. Scroll to your network name and select it. Enter your WiFi password carefully using the LCD navigation buttons — WiFi passwords are case-sensitive.
Menu → Network Settings → Wi-Fi Setup → Wi-Fi Setup WizardPrint a network status sheet to confirm
After successful connection: Menu → Network Settings → Network Status → Print Status Sheet. Confirm an IP address is assigned and signal strength is Good or Excellent. Keep this sheet — you will need the IP address if the printer goes offline later.
Menu → Network Settings → Network Status → Print Status Sheet💡 Alternative: WPS Push Button Setup (Faster)
If your router supports WPS: on the ET-2600 press Menu → Network Settings → Wi-Fi Setup → Push Button Setup (WPS). Within 2 minutes press the WPS button on your router. No password entry required — the devices connect automatically. If WPS succeeds, assign a static IP immediately to prevent future offline issues.
Once the ET-2600 is successfully connected to WiFi, the single most important follow-up action is to assign it a reserved IP address in your router. This takes about two minutes and permanently prevents the most common recurring problem on this model — the printer going offline after every router restart because the IP address changed. Log into your router admin panel, find the ET-2600 in the DHCP client list (its MAC address is printed on the status sheet), and assign it a permanent reserved IP. From that point forward, the printer will always be reachable at the same address regardless of how many times the router restarts.
ET-2600 Not Printing or Showing Offline
Fix: ET-2600 Not Printing / Showing Offline
Jobs sent but nothing prints — Windows or Mac shows offline
Power cycle printer and router in sequence
Turn off the ET-2600. Unplug the router. Wait 60 seconds. Power router on first, wait 30 seconds for full boot. Power on the printer. Allow the printer to fully reconnect to WiFi before sending any print job.
Clear the print queue on your PC
Windows: Win+R → control printers → right-click ET-2600 → See what’s printing → cancel all jobs. Mac: System Settings → Printers → ET-2600 → open queue → clear all. A stuck job blocks all subsequent printing.
control printers → ET-2600 → See what’s printing → cancel allDisable “Use Printer Offline” (Windows)
In the control printers window, right-click the ET-2600. If “Use Printer Offline” has a checkmark — click it to remove the tick. This single setting forces the printer offline regardless of its actual connection and is the most common hidden cause of Windows offline errors.
Restart the Print Spooler service (Windows)
Press Win+R → services.msc → Enter. Find Print Spooler → right-click → Restart. This refreshes Windows’ print management service and often immediately restores the printer to online status.
services.msc → Print Spooler → RestartUpdate the printer port IP address
Print a network status sheet (Menu → Network Settings → Network Status → Print Status Sheet). Note the IP. Windows: Printer Properties → Ports → Configure Port — update the IP to match the status sheet. This is the most common cause of “offline” on the ET-2600.
Printer Properties → Ports → Configure Port → update IPReinstall the ET-2600 driver
Uninstall all Epson apps from Settings → Apps. Visit epson.com/support, search “ET-2600”, and download the latest Full Feature Driver for your OS. Reinstall as administrator — select WiFi connection when prompted during setup.
epson.com/support → ET-2600 → Full Feature Driver → reinstallET-2600 Blank Pages, Black Ink & Print Quality Issues
⚠️ Run Nozzle Check Before Any Cleaning — Always
Go to Menu → Maintenance → Nozzle Check and print the pattern. Inspect each coloured row for gaps. This identifies exactly which nozzles are clogged — and lets you measure improvement after each cleaning cycle. Never run cleaning cycles without a baseline nozzle check first.
Head Cleaning Protocol for ET-2600
For blank pages, missing black, faded output, or banding
Check all four ink tank levels first
Open the ink tank compartment. Confirm all four tanks — black, cyan, magenta, yellow — are filled above the minimum line. A tank below minimum allows air into the feed tube, causing blank or faint output regardless of how many cleaning cycles you run.
Run head cleaning + print flush immediately after
Press Menu → Maintenance → Head Cleaning → Start. As soon as the cycle completes — without waiting — print a full page of large solid colour blocks (all four colours). This push-flush technique forces ink through the warm nozzles and is significantly more effective than cleaning alone on the ET-2600.
Menu → Maintenance → Head Cleaning → flush print immediatelyRepeat up to 3 times with nozzle check after each
Run the head cleaning + flush print combination up to 3 times. After each round print a nozzle check to measure improvement. Stop when all rows are solid and complete. After 3 rounds — wait 8 hours before trying again. The rest period often produces further improvement.
Run Print Head Alignment after cleaning
After nozzles are confirmed clear: press Menu → Maintenance → Print Head Alignment. Follow the on-screen instructions to correct any alignment drift. This is especially important on the ET-2600 after extended idle periods and fixes blurry text and colour fringing.
Menu → Maintenance → Print Head AlignmentManual nozzle soak for severe persistent clogs
For clogs surviving 3 cleaning cycles and overnight rest: power off and unplug. Apply 2–3 drops of distilled water directly on the print head nozzle surface. Wait 15 minutes. Blot gently with a dry lint-free cloth. Power on and run one head cleaning followed by a flush print.
ET-2600 Phantom Paper Jam Fix
Fix: ET-2600 Paper Jam Error with No Paper Present
Known ET-2600 sensor issue — error appears even when paper path is clear
Inspect all access panels with a flashlight
Open front cover, rear access panel, and the paper tray area. Shine a flashlight deep into every part of the paper path. Look specifically for tiny torn paper scraps, staples, or any fragment — even 1cm is enough to trigger the sensor on the ET-2600.
Use compressed air to clear the sensor area
With the printer powered off and unplugged, use a can of compressed air to blow through the rear access panel. This dislodges paper dust and fine fibres from the paper detection sensor lever — the most common cause of ET-2600 phantom jam errors.
Run the ET-2600 roller cleaning cycle
Press Menu → Maintenance → Paper Guide Cleaning. Load plain A4 paper when prompted. The printer feeds and ejects paper several times to clean dust from both the rollers and the sensor area — often resolving phantom jam errors in one cycle.
Menu → Maintenance → Paper Guide CleaningPower cycle after cleaning
After the roller cleaning, power the printer fully off and unplug from the wall for 60 seconds. Power back on. The sensor state resets on power-up and the phantom jam error should be cleared if the physical cause has been removed.
ET-2600 All-Problems Quick Fix Cards
Reset Network & Retry
Menu → Network Settings → Restore Network Defaults. Always do before retrying failed WiFi setup. Old credentials block new attempts on the ET-2600.
Switch Router to WPA2
In router admin: change security to WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 Mixed. WPA3-only silently blocks ET-2600 connection attempts — even when the password is correct.
Try WPS Push Button
Menu → Network Settings → Wi-Fi Setup → Push Button (WPS). Press router WPS button within 2 minutes. Faster than wizard — bypasses password entry issues.
Assign Static IP
Reserve a fixed IP for the ET-2600 in router DHCP settings. Permanently prevents the recurring offline-after-restart issue — the most common long-term WiFi problem on this model.
Disable “Use Printer Offline”
control printers → right-click ET-2600 → uncheck “Use Printer Offline”. Single most common cause of ET-2600 appearing offline in Windows without any actual connection problem.
Clear Queue + Restart Spooler
Cancel all queued jobs, then services.msc → Print Spooler → Restart. Resolves most “not printing” cases immediately without needing to reinstall anything.
Update Port IP Address
Print network status sheet. Go to Printer Properties → Ports → Configure Port and update the IP to match. Fixes “offline” caused by IP change — most common offline cause on ET-2600.
Run Nozzle Check First
Menu → Maintenance → Nozzle Check. Always do this before any cleaning. Gaps in the black row confirm clogged black nozzles — the most common ET-2600 ink problem.
Head Cleaning + Flush Print
Menu → Maintenance → Head Cleaning. Immediately print solid colour blocks after each cycle. Repeat ×3 max. The flush print is the key step — dramatically improves ET-2600 cleaning effectiveness.
Refill Ink Tanks
Confirm all 4 tanks are above the minimum line. Low black tank = air in feed tube = blank pages. Use genuine Epson EcoTank 664 or 502 series ink only for the ET-2600.
Manual Nozzle Soak
For severe clogs: apply 2–3 drops distilled water to nozzle surface, wait 15 min, blot dry, run one cleaning + flush. Highly effective for ET-2600 pigment black clogs.
Phantom Jam — Compressed Air
Known ET-2600 issue. Blow compressed air through rear panel. Run Menu → Maintenance → Paper Guide Cleaning. Power cycle. Clears sensor dust causing false jam errors.

ET-2600 Frequently Asked Questions
My ET-2600 ink tanks are completely full but prints are blank — why?
Full tanks with blank output is the classic pigment black nozzle clog on the ET-2600. The ink is in the tanks but dried ink in the print head nozzles is blocking it from reaching the paper. Run a nozzle check (Menu → Maintenance → Nozzle Check) to confirm — the black row will show gaps. Apply the head cleaning plus flush print protocol up to 3 times. For stubborn clogs on this model, the manual distilled water nozzle soak is highly effective after Power Cleaning has been attempted.
My ET-2600 goes offline every time I restart the router — permanent fix?
This is the most frequently reported ET-2600 problem. The printer’s firmware does not handle DHCP IP address changes reliably — when the router assigns a new IP after restart, Windows loses the printer connection. The permanent fix is to log into your router admin panel and assign a reserved (static) IP address to the ET-2600. This ensures it always receives the same IP on every restart. Additionally, update the printer port IP in Windows Printer Properties to match, and the offline issue will not recur.
The ET-2600 WiFi setup wizard keeps failing despite entering the correct password — why?
The three most common causes of this specific problem on the ET-2600 are: router security set to WPA3-only (change to WPA2 or Mixed), previous failed setup data still stored on the printer (reset network defaults first), or the router channel is congested (set 2.4GHz manually to channel 1, 6, or 11). Work through all three before concluding there is a hardware fault. Also confirm the printer is within 2 metres of the router during the initial setup attempt.
Does the ET-2600 support Epson Smart Panel?
The ET-2600 is not fully supported by the newer Epson Smart Panel app. For mobile printing and scanning on this model, use the Epson iPrint app (available free on iOS and Android). For cloud printing, use Epson Connect at epsonconnect.com. For PC printing on Windows and Mac, download the Full Feature Driver from epson.com/support and select your operating system.
